dvbshop.net (slow) delivery times

I ordered a few items from dvbshop.net two weeks ago. All the items were in stock, so I thought I would have them at my doorstep within a few days. Boy was I wrong, it took them over one week just to dispatch the order! I mailed them to check what was going on and they just replied to be patient. To be fair, their service was good in that they answered my e-mail, but one week is just too long to dispatch items that are advertised as being in stock!

Mission statement

I’ve actively been using MythTV since 2006. By actively I mean that I use MythTV for everything that can be categorized as “watching TV”, e.g. watching videos, DVDs, TV recordings and occasionally also live TV.

During the years I’ve spent a lot of time setting everything up. The aim of this blog is to share some of that experience, and also partly to serve as documentation for myself. As any MythTV user will tell you, MythTV is the ultimate tweaking project. With a little bit of luck, you can get a basic installation up and running pretty fast. But getting every single detail working exactly how you want is easily a never-ending project. This is good if you are like me and tend to enjoy the tweaking more than the result of the tweaking :)

While this slashdot comment may be a bit of an exaggeration, there’s a bit of truth to it:

Clearly you haven’t dealt with MythTV. The myth is that you get to watch and record TV. The reality is you spend all your time fiddling with it and cursing at it until your head is so bloody from banging it up against a brick wall that you give up and decide to give up TV altogether. (source)

Anyway, once you get MythTV set up, it’s a lot more stable than most media players and PVRs on the market. That is assuming you were lucky enough to buy the “right” hardware. The amount of features and configuration possibilities are endless. MythTV will change the way you watch TV.
